hospital room
solitude sleeps in the corner
hiding from the world
patient wakes up to discover
nobody is there except a silence unheard
it’s gaze is deafening
the hours are longing to be released
tubes wrap around like grapevines
feeling blindly for a clue
only to find nothing to latch on to except a sweet fall
the smell of airplane food and old plastic car interior
to guide through a day filled with sunlight through an unclean window
discoverers flying without wings
adventurers on a road that does not bring
jealousy is a wounded animal
broken hearts are never cured
they only scar their way into a new promise
waiting to be laughed at when looking back is learned
only to be torn apart when the last page is turned
letters systematically chosen from a million words
empty room
solitude wakes up
patient hides in the corner
the space between becomes an orphan
moments held onto so hard they suffocate
friendship is a fist
where the nails dig in to the palm
bloody as the sea is calm
fury is the morning song
of fate’s lullaby
of sorrow’s joyful goodbye
