Disguises

THE
GREAT
CONSTANT
BATTLE
OF
THE
SELVES

part 1.

disguises

we are all hiding underneath disguises
we are all covered up in disguises
everyday is a costume party
everybody is a clown
our masks may smile
but inside we frown
most people don’t even know
that their reflection is only a disguise
most people think they are flowing with the rest
when they are really swimming against the tide

disguises to give us extra pairs of hands
enabling us to cheat, lie and steal
disguises to give us an excuse
to hurt, to kill, to take away another’s joy
disguises to strip our abilities
to love, to seek, to feel
disguises to invade the empty corners of our souls
thus making us empty, making us suffer, making us blame others

is it not time to take off our masks?
is it not time to uncover ourselves?
is it not time to stop hiding in the caves of our thoughts?
is it not time to unlock our greatness?
it it not time to accept our shortcomings?

it all begins with one word
accept
it all begins in this world
accept
it all begins with each other
accept
it all begins right now
accept

here’s to you, me and all that lies between

balance

standing on one foot
trying to catch raindrops
crying from made up problems
looking for new riddles at the bottom of bottles

see the world
read books
breathe in beauty
exhale your pain
say hello

understand your enemies
they might be friends in disguise
embrace your destiny
you are the only one of you
there is no one to do your job
