THE PROBLEM:
Eating animals is a disaster for humanity and the planet. Especially eating fish and what mass fishing does to our oceans (watch the new documentary “Seaspiracy” on Netflix).
THE SOLUTION:
I think it’s time for all of us to wake up and grow up. I travelled the world for 30 years and every city river is basically a sewer. It disgusted and saddened me wherever I went and how little most people cared. Why would a species destroy their own habitat like this?
I never understood why people are in such a rush to get somewhere with their ugly cars (all modern cars look awful) and then so stressed out about stupid pointless shit. Overworking themselves. Relying on doctors and politicians to fix their lives And complain when they don’t.
Be your own doctor.
Be your own politician.
Be your own celebrity.
Humans are amazing creatures. We can do better. We will. We are. There are great people in this world. I think we all have it in us. Unrealised potential.
Wild fish/game is better for health of course but for me personally there are ethical concerns about killing when it’s not necessary. if those animals have no rights (doesn’t mean equal rights) than neither do you and then we all live in North Korea if you wanna play that game, i sure don’t but at least i think we can all agree that factory farming animals/fish is wrong from every perspective. And i know i know, these things are more complicated. Talk is cheap. Actions matter more.
Some will read this and accuse me of being self-righteous or arrogant. Maybe i am but thinking that makes you the same. I think we all are to some degree. But such people never want to engage with ideas. Just personal attacks. The truth hurts if it exposes our shadows. That’s when conversations become difficult. But not impossible if we remain calm and build bridges.
I am nobody. Just a messenger. I don’t have it all figured out either. I want everyone else to be better than me, wealthier, healthier, stronger. We can’t ever remove ALL suffering because LIFE feeds on LIFE. Ideas also feed on other ideas. But we gotta be wise stewards of the planet if we are to have this much power, otherwise it’s time to step down. True power is not political or controlling armies. It is creative potential. The power of ideas.
I like to live according to what Sam Harris once said on his podcast: “I don’t want to be wrong for a moment longer than necessary”.
Have a good week!
