facebook town

Facebook is like this town where people live. And sometimes I come here to visit. Rent a little room above the pub where i can write and rest. Everyone always welcomes me back. Most with open arms.

But there are some bitter folks who say why did you come back. Is this a good idea. He won’t stay long. He’ll be off again before you know it. Some miss the rambling I provide. Others are relieved when the lone traveller rides on.

The saloon down the street is always full of old friends and warm memories. We trade some war stories and share some laughs. You don’t all know each other. But I know everyone. And from your perspective, the people in my town are not all in your town. You become the lone traveller and from your vantage point I am just a person in your town but you live here and don’t really wanna shake the boat too much. You take trips now and then to get away from it all. People think they know you. You have a good job and salary and you have your things and ideas and views and ways and family and memories. Sometimes you wish you could be someone else, somewhere else.

I think we all fulfill different roles for each other in our intertwining lives. We need plumbers and politicians and poets and mystics and murderers and fisherman and preachers. And personalities too. Archetypes. Humanity thrives on diversity.

Maybe we are not that different. You follow your rules. I follow mine. I am a visitor. Tourist. I’m never really here but never really gone. I admire the ones that stay and settle. Maybe I will try that as well and give room for others to explore.

I try to get in your heads and hearts with my words and music. Soon I will sing you a song and then you will know why this was all necessary. We all justify our existence with these convenient truths and convincing lies. We are these spiritual apes surviving and doing our part to keep the predators of night at bay.

All we know is thought and mind and words and symbols and the primordial sound of I AM.
