Half-Asleep (Live from Sofar Tallinn)

about the song:
I wrote the song while living in Dublin, Ireland in 2008. The house was cold, my relationship was kind of in turmoil and I was frustrated with my life yet I wanted to live better and wake up from this coma that most of us are in. I knew I was waking up, I still am. It takes time. But it’s a hard path to take because most people prefer to do what everyone else does or what they are told.

I’ve only started playing it live recently, so for many years it was just buried among a million other songs. Some people liked it so I kept on playing it. This is the first official recording of the song for the public. It was an interesting event. Everybody was actually listening! Nerve-racking to say the least… I messed up the beginning on the first take so we did another one. Here it is. I usually go a little crazier in the last verse but for some reason I restrained myself which I kind of regret now. I  miss my beard.
