It seems to me that most people are just not willing to embrace uncertainty. This is a threat to their very identity; their survival. And everyone wants be clever with their whatifs. Yet when they buy a new car or go to the hospital after an accident, all that seems to go out the window and science is king again. Not to mention the airplanes, cars and smartphones we see muslims using at airports while dressed like they are going to an Aladdin costume party.
Our experience of reality (that which is real) is a function of the brain, producing an identity (basically data-gathering points so we don’t fall over), by which we can associate with the world around us. That’s the starting point and from there we crawl, stand, rise and mature into this collective of other identities, sharing our info. We build an elaborate habitat to ensure our long-term survival.
