Sweet Little Tragedy (NEW SONG)

(you can listen to the song and read the lyrics from the following link: http://soundcloud.com/sunlightheart/sweet-little-tragedy)

Another song of mine that’s been floating around for 3-4 years which is when the lyrics were written but since then the song has took different forms. This is the one I like the most. I wrote the lyrics to this girl I was kind of in some strange oversees relationship with. I wrote her a lot of poems and she inspired me like no other. Her name was June. But things just didn’t even play out in the way that we probably both hoped initially. Even the poetry was becoming darker and darker and we probably both new.

I’ve always been fascinated with the American dream and how equally uplifting it is as an idea but also kind of silly. There is no america. Everywhere is america. America is a culture. It’s also a huge mass of land with two continents. But the idea of the dream is that we can make a better life for ourselves if we want. We can dig ourselves out of the rubble.
At the same time I’ve always been “stuck” with these glamorizations of being this so-called suffering artist who will forever be down and out and if he isn’t there will no longer be anything worthy to create. Who am I kidding, I’m still stuck there. I still think art comes from suffering. But that doesn’t mean an artist has to suffer always. It’s better to let life unfold. Inspiration is elusive anyways.

At the same time I have this huge insatiable hunger to “make it”. To get rich and famous and live in a mansion and party with celebrities, win awards, wear expensive suits, and roll in the glory and the feces of that glory. Power, status, wealth. Ego. I want to become a millionaire and burn all my money and make a video with my smart phone (I dont have one now) and put it on youtube. Then I can become a junkie, destroy everything I have accomplished and suffer again and play this song. Or maybe I can start walking the earth in my barefoot and be the new jesus.

That’s the kind of shit my mind has to deal with on a daily basis. Welcome to my world baby.

Enjoy the song.
