Tartu

Came to Tartu for a few days (a small uni town in Estonia) with my incredibly amazing girlfriend. I was asked to be on the panel of judges for the youth band competition called Noortebänd so I thought what the hell, expenses paid and all, lets go for a little trip!

Last night there were 6 bands performing and my favorite was “Wilhelm”! Really beautiful guitar/mandolin work, strong vocals and harmonies, sick rhythm section. Some great tunes. Good stuff. There were a few other bands I liked also like Incipit and Jetpack Stanley.

Another 6-7 bands tonight… and next week also. Cool to be on the other side of the fence for a change. It’s a relief to not have to perform although of course as a musician, I always want to do it when I see others doing it. But it’s also interesting to not be just an audience member and really listening to the music, seeing how much people love music, reminding myself how much I love it.

Now I’m sitting in the hostel we are staying at. Couldn’t sleep so I came into the living room to read and write. Looking forward to walking around the town today and admiring her autumn glow.

I’m a little hungry. For adventure. I could use some blueberry pancakes right now.

Morning is slowly conquering the dark night.

love kills anger.
Dont forget.
