there is only now

got lost in my head
doctors gave me some meds
you need therapy they said
i went travelling instead
i was broke as fuck
busked in the rain
ate tourist leftovers in burger king
nobody noticed or cared
rode long busrides across europe
right through the night
this way i could save money
by moving and sleeping
at the same time
it was always nice to arrive
at a new city
stumbling off the bus
neck aches and smelly socks
dirty hair and hunger pangs
found myself a cheap hostel
where i could shower and sleep
read my kindle
write poetry
and talk to other wanderers
lost in their heads
the odd hook up here and there
wonder what the hell i’m doing here
with all these strangers
what am i looking for
so i travelled on
met some good folks
it’s like we were from nowhere
just a bunch of vagabonds
broke as fuck
but happy and in love
with life and this great struggle
walk through spain
take a boat to italy from albania
fly to malta and romania
spend two weeks in croatia
think about those times
i miss all my friends
i miss the moments we shared
the music, the dance, the drugs
the laughs, the hangovers
i miss it all
but when you are there
it is just like right now
one day i will miss this too
sitting here at home
writing these poems
watching films
working on my music skills
life is amazing
i just want to cherish it
i want to give more
help people get what they need
i’m on a mission now
to just sing my songs
bel canto
this time i’m not gonna leave
i’m not gonna abandon you
i’m not gonna want something better
this is enough
everything else is just another enough
there is no more
there is only this
there is only now
i am so rich with memories
this memory bank in my head
can just dive in any time
many of the memories are new
even if they are long ago
i just forgot to remember
the smallest things…
like walking around some city
even the hard times
they are incredible too
you never regret travel
i think everyone should take some time
and just go out there
see the world
close your computers and devices
just walk the world
talk to new people
give your eyes new sights
new delights
explore and experience
that’s what it’s all about
there is no replacement for that
