(This was written for a writing community i subsequently got kicked out of)
I really want to stay focused on my writing and finding an audience for my work. I am a serious artist and committed to expressing myself through words and music. I’m new to twitter, typeshare, circe. I don’t use any other social media currently. Why? Because I hate social media. I know i know, gotta get over that but hey, that’s why i am here. I love writing but every time I go to these sites I feel like my soul is being sucked out of my body in real time. I don’t personally get any satisfaction out of engaging with a bunch of people I don’t know unless there is a reason for it. Even if it’s artists i love, i dont send them fan mail. I give my money and tell others about it. That’s it. And there’s just too much noise here especially on circe. I have no idea why i am here. Why do i need to be apart of a community? I’m sure there are some great writers and essays coming out from some of you but it’s too overwhelming and difficult to find them for me. The matchups questionnaires were also so vague and general that i dont understand what the point was. I love writing and reading great writing. I’m not really that interested in forcing connections online so that is something I could really use some help with and to go deep into that and not just “if you read other people’s stuff then you will succeed”. That is a bunch of bullshit. Like that is probably the main issue why we are all here. Dont just assume we are all fun loving community kumbaya people, obviously we are not. We are writers. Writers like to be alone. Writers are introverts. Other people drain us. This is not instagram or facebook but it feels pretty much the same. (discourse forum style would be way better imho
